 We believe in vision of a future Western Australia where all young people have safe and stable homes, access to basic necessities, a strong safety net for them and their families as well as individualised supports to nurture them to flourish. Together we can realise the vision of a prosperous community for all young Western Australians a reality.

A Strong SectorGeneral Advocacy

The State of the Youth Sector Forum (the Forum) is an annual event held by the Youth Affairs Council of Western Australia (YACWA). The 2021 edition of the Forum was held on Monday the 4th of October and was attended by around 100 individuals who reflected various areas of service delivery and governance in the youth sector. This included youth workers and executives from community organisations, as well as representatives from local and State Government agencies.

YACWA's 2022-23 Pre-Budget Submission has been developed in order to provide guidance to the State Government in using its enviable economic position to truly improve the lives of vulnerable young Western Australians, and create a sustainable system of care.

On Thursday the 8th of October, the State Government released its 2020/21 Budget outlining confirmed spending over the last 12 months, and its plan for investment and savings over the next few financial years, including the key initiatives that may have a significant effect on the future health and wellbeing of young people in Western Australia.

This Recovery Framework, developed in August 2020, provides guidance for the State Government to address immediate wellbeing needs of young people, and to prevent long-term consequences from the outbreak of COVID-19 in Western Australia.

The YACWA Survey was created in order to allow YACWA to gain an insight of the current experiences and impact the COVID-19 Pandemic has had on young people in Western Australia. We utilised the survey to get a deeper look at these impacts so that they can inform our advocacy to Government and the youth sector’s efforts to support vulnerable young people.
